1. According to Nagel, consciousness is what makes the problem of the relationship between mind and body really difficult. Why does he think so?
2. According to Nagel, there is something that it is like to be a bat -- that is, bats have consciousness or conscious experience. What sorts of things do you think have conscious experience and which do not? How is it possible to tell, in your opinion, whether something has conscious experience or not?
